GridMarkets is an industry-leading cloud rendering and simulation company with over a decade of experience serving the VFX and Animation communities within the film, television, advertising, and scientific industries.  While we support many packages, Houdini is our primary focus - we support it better than any other renderfarm in the world.  Not comfortable resting on our laurels, we constantly strive to expand and refine our pipeline to ensure that we are providing our customers with the greatest possible breadth of tools to make their visions possible.

The role is fully remote and as such comes with its own set of merits and challenges, but you will have great flexibility over your work and will be a critical part of forming our culture.  You will be the customer facing problem solver who investigates their issues and finds solutions to ensure their projects are completed on time. As a main contact point for industry professionals and artists, the ability to adapt communication to the technical level of the artists is paramount for resolving their issues.  A working understanding of a variety of workflows and pipelines ensures that we are able to help all customers.

Who you are:
You are a Houdini VFX Artist or Houdini VFX/Pipeline TD who has been around the block a few times, stumbled over complex issues with shots and found solutions.  Unafraid of a little coding or technical assessment, you know how to get at the details from a scene that you need to resolve errors, visual glitches, or optimization issues.  Also, you have spent time around other artists of varying skill levels and understand what they are attempting to do with scenes so you can describe things to them in ways they can understand.

Requirements:

• Intermediate proficiency with Houdini, including VEX, Hython, USD, and the various simulation solution types

• General understanding of major renderers: Arnold, Redshift, V-Ray, RenderMan, Mantra, Karma, etc.

• Basic proficiency with at least one other supported software: Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender or 3DS Max

• Good customer service skills and experience communicating with both technical and non-technical artists

• Stable high speed internet connection

• Fluent in written & spoken English

 

Nice to haves:

• Intermediate Python scripting proficiency

• Realtime rendering: Unreal, Unity, Godot, etc.

• Generative AI: Stable Diffusion, LLMs, etc.

• Any other spoken or written language proficiency

Compensation:

Hourly compensation based on experience and proficiency as well as local costs of living.  Additionally, we allow our team to freely use our platform for their own personal projects and encourage them to expand their skills while working with us.
