How did you get started in the video game industry & what led you to specialize in VFX?
I've always loved video games—ever since I was a kid playing Pokémon on my Game Boy, then later on the PlayStation 1 and Xbox. But it was Halo that really sparked my fascination with explosions and visual effects.
At first, I studied Marketing at university, but after a year, I realized it wasn’t my true passion. I switched to a degree in video game development, which was the best decision I could’ve made.
I actually began my career as a Rigger, but one day someone on my team asked me to create a visual effect—and I instantly fell in love with VFX. That moment changed everything for me.
After working in Spain for a few years, I passed an art test to join TT Games in Manchester. I decided to take the leap and move to England—even though I didn’t speak a word of English at the time!
It was a huge change and a bit scary, but it pushed me to grow.
The experience of releasing my first AAA Lego game was unforgettable, and it made me hungry to keep going, keep learning, and keep creating visual effects that players would enjoy.
What advice would you give to aspiring VFX artists entering the industry today?
Stay inspired and be curious. VFX artists use a wide range of tools—Unreal, Blender, Photoshop, Substance, Embergen, Houdini—but the real magic comes from observation. Watch how the world works.
A rock hitting water, a leaf falling from a tree—those small, natural moments can be deeply inspiring. Technical skill is important, of course, but you also need to understand the beauty of movement and how things flow. Most importantly—never stop enjoying games. That joy is what keeps the creativity alive.
